In May 2019, Metronome team members attended Consensus 2019 and continued work on MET chainhops along with the accompanying Validator Network code.

Chainhops, validators, and open-sourcing

Coordinating with and onboarding Metronome Validators continued through May. The Metronome team is confident in an ETC chainhop and validator network launch in Q2, with Qtum and RSK to follow soon after.

As with everything else about Metronome, the code that will power the Validator Network itself will be open-sourced on the Metronome GitHub, letting the community review how the code works and outlining the necessary prerequisites to act as a validator.

Consensus 2019

Metronome team members spoke about and presented on Metronome at Consensus 2019. At both the booth and during the workshop, a few key takeaways surfaced:

  • Metronome contract behavior, particularly the ACC, was of particular interest to attendees. “DeFi” (for “Distributed Finance”) was a hot buzzword at Consensus and, as Metronome Chief Architect Jeff Garzik pointed out during the Metronome workshop (see below), “Metronome was DeFi before ‘DeFi’ was a thing.”
  • Portability, as a means to greater endurance and chain independence, was vital and necessary feature for attendees once explained.
  • Principal design features, while interesting on their own, created “a-ha” moments for booth visitors when explained in the context of the greater system goals and design.
  • The Validator Network and how this worked was particularly interesting to workshop attendees.

Overall, the month of May provided the opportunity for the Metronome team to speak more on the built-to-last cryptocurrency. The team also continues to make headway in the chainhop and Validator Network launch.
