Metronome Minute: Rohit Solia
In the Metronome Minute, we ask members of the Metronome team a few questions about their role, expertise, and what interests them about the cryptocurrency.
This week we feature our newest member of the Bloq team, Rohit Solia, a smart contract engineer and one of the early contributors to the Metronome project.
What is your role on the Metronome team?
I have worked with the Metronome team in past and was involved in writing the MET smart contracts as well as testing and writing Validator code. I am very excited to share that I am joining the team as full time smart contract engineer. Specifically, I will be working on Metronome’s future chain hops.
What excites you most about Metronome?
“Autonomous, Reliable, Portable” says it all — these values are core to Metronome. The autonomous nature of Metronome ensures that only the contracts and the community have control over its behavior. This leads to increased levels of reliability and portability not seen in other cryptocurrency projects. Metronome has many additional features that excite me, for example, having an autonomous converter and subscription payments.
What do you think have been the greatest challenges in bringing this cryptocurrency to life?
Creating a cryptocurrency which is autonomous, secure and built-to-last is not that easy. Keeping our core values in mind since day one while making sure that we are creating the best experience for our community is a challenge and everyone on the team has to go above and beyond to achieve this goal. Also, there are additional challenges involved in making a cryptocurrency user friendly, and to achieve that team has developed the MET wallet to make those interactions easier.
What do you hope will be the most-used application of Metronome?
The electronic cash use-case. Metronome has some very nice features, like subscription and multi chain portability, packed right into the core. This makes it a great candidate for point-of-sale use cases. Also, I believe there are endless possibilities for applications around each core feature of Metronome.
