Metronome Minute: Dariusz Jakubowski
Metronome is led by some of the most respected names in cryptocurrency: Chief Architect, Jeff Garzik, Chairman and co-founder, Matthew Roszak, and Chief Cryptographer, Peter Vessenes. They and the rest of the Metronome team envisioned this new cryptocurrency. This series gives a brief profile on other members of the talented team behind Metronome.
Dariusz Jakubowski is Metronome’s Community Advocate. He is a digital anthropologist, community manager, and has been closely following cryptocurrency and blockchain since 2014.
Q: Dariusz, what is your role in Metronome?
A: I am Metronome’s Community Advocate. I engage with the community, answer their questions, and talk with them about Metronome. I run most of the social media for Metronome, along with writing, editing, and content strategy.
Q: What excites you most about Metronome?
A: I am most excited about Metronome’s goal of longevity. From my experience in the space, this is the first cryptocurrency that I’ve come across that has every aspect built for endurance. From its auction style, to its issuance model, to its portability and chain flexibility, every part of Metronome was engineered to last. Having all parts work toward the same goal is powerful, and I can’t wait to see how the community continues defining Metronome after launch.
Q: What do you think has been the greatest challenge in bringing this cryptocurrency to life?
A: The biggest challenge is that the crypto-purchasing community is used to certain conventions — whitelists, bonuses, pre-sales — that we consider contrary to the ethos and rationale for Metronome. This even surprised us. However, the efforts on the part of the entire team to educate and clear up confusion have been excellent, and the community appears to appreciate it.
Q: What do you hope will be the most used application of Metronome?
A: I would love to see Metronome be used for subscription based content, goods, and services. This is one of the really neat aspects that Metronome is bringing — on-chain subscriptions. This could change the way we think about transacting with businesses and individuals online.
Q: Where will you be when the auction starts?
A: I’ll be in my work space, engaging with the community, helping them with any questions they may have once the auction begins.
